Marilyn G. Roberts
January 15, 2023 West Grove, PA A Creative Soul and an Artist at HeartMarilyn G. Roberts, age 98 of West Grove, PA, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 in hospice care at Christiana Hospital. Marilyn was the wife of the late Frank B. Roberts, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2014.
Born 1924 in Kansas City, KS, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Chester Eugene Graves and the late Anita P. Kazmaier. Following 2 years of study at Mary Washington College, Marilyn worked for an advertising agency. During this time, she attended evening classes at The Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Art (presently, the University of the Arts).
Throughout her lifetime, Marilyn was an active member of P.E.O., an organization that provides support through scholarships and grants to help women advance through education.
Marilyn was a creative soul and an artist at heart. She was a talented painter, doll maker and seamstress. She loved to listen to opera. Marilyn had a unique sense of humor and loved to laugh. She also enjoyed travel and was a lifelong learner, which kept her sharp all throughout her nineties. Marilyn was a social butterfly. She enjoyed talking to others and was an even better listener, always happy to lend an ear.
Many will miss Marilyn’s warmth, care and friendship.
Marilyn is survived by five children, Julia Brown (Bill), Cindy Darcey (Jim), Doug Roberts (Jill), Jeff Roberts (Penny) and Emily Matthews (David); one sister, Marjorie Ericson; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; as well as many friends.

Love to all of Marilyn’s family. It feels like the end of an era!
Living across the street from Frank and Marilyn (though to me they will always be Mr. and Mrs. Roberts) on Deer Run Drive was a treat. Frank was the type of neighbor my parents could leave their keys with and he’d watch your house (and let your children in if you were out of town!). Marilyn was the neighbor to borrow the cup of sugar from, share gardening tips, bird watch with and marvel at her latest projects.
I reconnected with Marilyn a few years ago and had been visiting when near West Grove. I loved how she kept Frank’s voice on her answering machine.
Marilyn and I were friends for 75 years, even though DuPont moved us around the states, I moved to England for 13 years (I still have the Atlas Frank gave me when they visited) and all because of her loving concern, great cooking and total kindness. You five children had a lovely mother. I had a lovely friend. Melora Davis
Aunt Marilyn always had a smile for everyone making us feel at home & wanted. These traits were shared with Uncle Frank. Their warmth & Christian love radiated, spreading for all to benefit & admire.
It was such a delight every time I had a privilege to see her or speak with her on the phone. What a witty wonderful sense of humor! She will be missed. Debbie Jackson, niece
Dear Family,
our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. Your special mother will be missed and touched so many people during her long life.
Blessings,
Maggie, Jim, and Kelsey Rose
Emily and family. How blessed you are to have had such a kind loving mother for so many years. I pray that you find peace in knowing how much she loved you all. Love and prayers Becky Matthews
Our hearts go out to Emily, her siblings and family at this time. Emily always said she was a clone of her Mother, if this is so then Marilyn was a warm and wonderful woman.
Remember her with love, because that is how she always remember all of you.
Loved visiting Marilyn (my cousin) before we moved to Pennsylvania and after. She and Frank were so hospitable in Wilmington, DE and at Jenner’s Pond. Marilyn was beautiful in appearance as well as her personality. She and Frank had a beautiful family of 5 children. We loved them all.
